About

Specialist tree surgeons in Cheshire and the North West

Maintaining and caring for Cheshire’s trees since 2000

Cheshire Trees was established in 2000. Owner Dave Barlow purchased the business from its previous owner in 2022. Since then, our team of professional tree surgeons has grown to service private and commercial clients across Cheshire and the North West region. Our head office is based in Ashley, close to Manchester Airport.

We carry out all tree maintenance and removal work with three priorities in mind: Safety, Sustainability and Respect.

On-Site Safety

Our Sustainability Pledge

Trees are living, breathing, beautiful beings and an essential part of our ecosystem. They provide food, shelter, and habitat for birds and animals, clean air for us to breathe, and help to reduce noise pollution and prevent flooding.

Where possible, we look to save a tree by removing dead, dying or diseased branches. If your tree cannot be saved, or is assessed to be dangerous, we will remove the tree and grind out the stump to make way for a replacement. Our team is happy to advise on the best tree for the situation, conditions, and size of plot. We are so committed to preventing tree loss, we will even come back and plant it for you!

All the green waste we create on site is either turned into woodchips, mulch, logs or biomass pellets for fuel.

We put our arboriculture skills to use within the community by volunteering to plant trees for the Woodland Trust.

Nothing goes to landfill.

Meet the Team

Cheshire Trees is a team of six NPTC qualified tree surgeons, led by owner Dave Barlow. For larger projects we often bring in specialist resources, people and equipment to support service delivery.

Dave has loved climbing trees since he was a kid. After starting his own grounds maintenance business at the age of 19, Dave developed a passion for trees and arboriculture. He trained in tree surgery at Myerscough College and TK Forestry Training School. When he’s not encouraging his kids to climb trees, you’ll find him enjoying outdoor family holidays in the Lake District.

Paul has worked in arboriculture for 27 years. A qualified tree surveyor and tree inspector, he’s experienced in domestic and commercial tree operations. Paul organises our on-site teams, ensuring they fulfil each client’s brief safely and efficiently.

Please ask if you would like to see proof of our qualifications.
